10:00 a.m.: Opening of the exhibition of projects and research from universities participating in the 1001VELAcup and presentation of the boat designs created by university students for the 1001VELAcup Trophy

12:00 p.m.: Faculty-student match race using boats provided by the club (J24)
New for 2026: On the same day, we plan to invite foiling boats built by students and/or universities.

6:45 p.m.: Presentation and evaluation of the participating teams’ projects by a JURY composed of:
• Architect Massimo Paperini: President of the 1001VELAcup Association;
• Engineer Francesco Costa: President of the La Spezia Section of the Lega Navale;
• Eric Petersen Buchgeher: Sports Journalist;
• Giovanni Soldini: Racing sailor;
• Flaviano Navone: Naval Architect;
• Rosanna Ghirri: Representative of the City of La Spezia
As in previous years, the Maneschi Award will be awarded by adding the scores obtained by the projects to the average of the best results in the race. The jury reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to award additional points in the event of a tie to the entry it deems most deserving.

During the evening, the “Nautica Next Wave” awards will be presented: six awards—Green, Design, Tech, Story, Rookie, and Spirit—dedicated to universities and presented by Nautica magazine, an Italian nautical science magazine since 1962.
